You can categorize payments that are created or requested in Utopia, as well as transactions in a given Safe’s Bookkeeping page.
To create categories:
- Go to Settings.
- Go to Transfer Properties.
- Create categories.
To categorize payments:
That are created via the payment form:
- Create a new payment.
- Select a category.

That are requested via the public payment form:
- Copy and share the public payment form.
- Instruct contributors how to fill out the public payment form with the appropriate category.

To categorize transfers in the Bookkeeping page:
In-line:
- Go to the Bookkeeping page for a given safe.
- Click on the category column of the transfer row you’d like to categorize.
- Select the appropriate category option.

Via the detail pane:
- Go to the Bookkeeping page for safe.
- Hover over a transfer row and click on the Information icon on the far-right.
- Select the appropriate category option within the detail pane.
- Save your changes once they’ve been made.

Via bulk editing:
- Optionally, click ‘Filter by’ in the Bookkeeping page for a given safe. Then, select the relevant filter options.


- Select the transfer rows you’d like to categorize in the Bookkeeping page for a safe.
- Click “Edit properties” located in the top-right corner of the table.
- Edit properties or add details. Note, your edits will be reflected on all selected transfers.
- Save your changes once they’ve been made.
